The Indiana State Department of Health said Saturday that another 1,159 Hoosiers had tested positive for COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began, 689,965 total positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Indiana, according to ISDH.
Five new COVID-19 deaths were also confirmed throughout the state on Saturday, ISDH said. That brought the total number of statewide COVID-19 deaths to 12,667.
Saturday's updated COVID-19 counts for Indiana
In southwestern Indiana, no new COVID-19 deaths were reported Saturday, but the state health department did confirm a number of new positive COVID-19 cases.
Saturday's Local COVID-19 Increases:
- Vanderburgh County: 19 new cases
- Knox County: 6 new cases
- Warrick County: 6 new cases
- Spencer County: 4 new cases
- Perry County: 2 new cases
- Pike County: 1 new case
- Posey County: 1 new case
- Daviess County: 1 new case
- Dubois County: 1 new case
As of Wednesday, all Hoosiers age 16 and older became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The expansion of eligibility made over 1.3 million additional Hoosiers eligible to receive their shot.
Both statewide and locally, health officials continue to urge all eligible individuals to receive the vaccine. Nearly 600 vaccination sites are available throughout the state.
As of Saturday, a total of 2,973,749 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 1,750,664 first doses and 1,223,085 individuals who are fully vaccinated.
