Police in Owensboro are investigating a shooting death in the city after they say a 15-year-old boy was found shot inside of an Owensboro home over the weekend.
The Owensboro Police Department says officers responded to a reported firearm discharge in the 2200 Block of East 19th St. around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, where upon arrival, they found a 15-year-old boy dead by a single gunshot wound inside of a residence.
OPD later identified the 15-year-old shooting victim as Aaron "Michael" Aull, Jr., of Owensboro, Kentucky.
The 15-year-old's untimely death has neighbors in the area concerned for the safety of their families.
“I was just in the apartment watching TV, And it sounded like a faded knock. Three, just knock, knock, knock, and ten minutes later, it was swarmed with OPD, fire department, and paramedics," said Brandon McBride, who lives in the area. "It makes me want to bring my kids closer and move out of here. It's nonsense man, a bunch of violence."
Police said Tuesday that as of now, Aull Jr.'s death was believed to be accidental, but that the investigation into the incident was still ongoing.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the Owensboro shooting death of 15-year-old Corban Henry, which happened in the city in mid-August.
No arrests have been made in connection to either shooting incident at this time.
