On Thursday, the Diocese of Evansville Catholic Education Office said that a diocesan Catholic high school had placed 28 student-athletes and four coaches from one varsity athletic team on quarantine after two student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19.

The education office didn't specify which diocesan Catholic high school the student-athletes who tested positive for the virus attend but did say that until the student-athletes and coaches return to school, contests over the next two weeks would be rescheduled as the remaining season permits.

The Diocese of Evansville Catholic Education Office also said on Thursday that they were notified of two other positive cases of COVID-19 within two separate diocesan Catholic schools, unrelated to the student-athletes who tested positive.

This means the education office reported a total of four new positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
