35 new COVID-19 deaths were reported statewide in Indiana on Monday by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH).

A handful of those new COVID-19 deaths reported Monday occurred locally, most notably in Vanderburgh County, where four more residents were confirmed to have died from the virus.

The state health department says 11,982 total Hoosiers have now died from COVID-19 to date.

With another 824 new positive cases of COVID-19 also reported statewide on Monday by ISDH, the total number of Indiana residents now known to have tested positive for the virus reached 656,358.

Here's a look at the COVID-19 increases shown Monday in each of our local counties:

  • Vanderburgh County: 19 new cases, 4 new deaths
  • Warrick County: 5 new cases
  • Perry County: 1 new case
  • Posey County: 1 new case
  • Pike County: 0 new cases
  • Gibson County: 3 new cases
  • Knox County: 1 new case
  • Daviess County: 2 new cases, 1 new death
  • Dubois County: 3 new cases

For the first time in months, several Indiana counties, including Daviess and Pike counties, received a "Blue" score on the state health department's COVID-19 County Metrics Map on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

While those counties received the Blue score, which indicates the lowest possible rate of COVID-19 spread, no county throughout the state has yet entered into the Blue Advisory Level, which would allow for events and gatherings to take place at 100% of a facility's capacity.

To enter into the Blue Advisory Level, a county would have to receive a Blue score for two consecutive weeks. The next update to Indiana's County Metrics Map will be announced on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
