A Cold Front Ushers in a Gorgeous Forecast

The weather looks fabulous across the Tri-State... For now.

Our Wednesday has been nothing short of perfect. Afternoon highs topped out in the low 80s with little to no humidity earlier on. Did I mention the gradually decreasing cloud cover and that breeze? Oh, that breeze; that wonderful northwesterly breeze topped out around 15mph for much of the afternoon, keeping conditions throughout the Ohio Valley quite comfortable. The evening ahead doesn't look all that different; temperatures will remain pleasant - after seeing temperatures in the mid 70s around dinnertime, we'll dip to 66° by 10PM. The combination of that northwesterly wind flow and our clear skies will allow the mercury to fall back into the upper 50s for the first time since Monday morning.

We'll kick off our Thursday morning under crystal clear skies with a morning low of 57°. Higher pressure pushing in over the Great Lakes and Midwest following last night's passing cold front will continue to keep conditions both cool and comfortable Thursday. Afternoon highs for many of us will likely struggle to reach 80° - we'll top out at just 79° in Evansville tomorrow afternoon; that temperature is 5° cooler than our norm for this time of the year and will mark our coolest afternoon since this past Saturday. If you want to fire up the grill tomorrow night, I won't blame you - temperatures around dinnertime will range between 75° and 78°!

As for our Friday, expect more of the same. Sunshine, the low 80s/upper 70s and comfortable conditions (those of you heading to a football game on Friday night will find the weather particularly pleasant; expect a kickoff temperature of 75°). Our northerly winds however, will have subsided by Friday afternoon. A weak southerly wind flow will have settled back in across the region that evening and while it won't have a significant effect on the Tri-State that night, our shift in wind direction will have major ramifications for the weekend ahead. Once southerly winds pair with our clear skies, temperatures will surge both Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon high temperatures both days will reach the upper 80s and low 90s area wide.

Winds will gust as high 35 MPH through the afternoon. The stronger southerly winds will assist in milder afternoon highs. Temperatures will max in the upper-50s and low-60s with partly cloudy skies. Rain will be arriving by 3AM Thanksgiving morning.
