A Flawless Friday and Saturday Forecast

Make the most of the dry weather while it lasts!

The rain has subsided, the sun is shining and the weekend has nearly begun; and what a weekend we have in store! Following all that damp, rainy weather on Thursday, temperatures soared back into the mid to upper 70s earlier this afternoon and the evening ahead looks just as pleasant. Expect the clear skies to linger and for temperatures to gradually dip from the upper 60s around dinnertime down to 62° around 10PM. All in all, it'd be hard to come up with a better Friday evening forecast and end to the work week.

If you're unable to get out this evening don't worry, tomorrow is actually looking just as nice (if not nicer). We'll kick off our Saturday with a morning low near 45°, but will quickly climb through the morning, reaching 71° by 12PM before topping out at 78° closer to 3pm. Now, if you're unaware (or living under a rock), it's Derby Weekend and the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby is tomorrow evening in Louisville. If you're either planning on attending or just watching, conditions should be nothing short of idyllic for the race. Expect a race time (5:57 CT) temperature of 73° under mostly sunny skies. Here at home, conditions should be similar - we'll find ourselves closer to 80° at 6PM before diving toward just 57° overnight. It'll be a perfect night to sip on a Mint Julep or two.

Sunday looks as though it will be cloudier and cooler, not to mention bring about our next chance for rainfall. A plume of moisture riding up the Mississippi Valley will reach the Tri-State Sunday morning. Dew point values in the low 60s (humid air) will settle in across the region that morning and we could be looking at scattered rainfall as early as Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, it looks like shower and storm chances will pepper our extended forecast - in addition to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and next Saturday look a little damper than we'd all prefer. Be sure to make the most of the dry weather while it lasts.

The bitterly cold start to our Wednesday will inevitably lead to a cooler-than-average afternoon across the Tri-State. We're currently expecting an afternoon high of 26° in Evansville on Wednesday afternoon (that’s 17° below average for this time of the year). Temperatures will once again dive back down towards the teens for many of us overnight and into early Thursday. As for right now Thursday morning looks as though will be slightly warmer, but only just - believes model data indicates that we will see a morning low temperature of 14° under partly cloudy skies in Evansville tomorrow morning.
