Abnormal Warmth Gives Way to Rain

Following a summer-like week across the Tri-State, rain is expected to arrive just in time to spoil those weekend plans.

It was another warm one today across the Tri-State; temperatures topped out in the mid to upper 80s once again, surging well above the norm for this time of the year. As a result, this evening looks just as mild - after falling to 80° around dinnertime, we'll head for the low 70s by 10PM or so before bottoming out in the mid to low 60s early Thursday morning. Thursday morning's anticipated low of 64° would be our warmest start to a day in a week and a half and you better believe the abnormally mild morning will give way to and equally summery afternoon. The mercury will again head for the mid to upper 80s, reaching 86° or higher in Evansville for our fourth straight day, a stretch not seen in the River City since the end of August.

Friday looks as though it will be just as warm - afternoon highs again reaching the mid 80s will wrap up our warmest week of weather across the Tri-State in over a month! Fortunately, the latest model data suggests that both our Thursday and Friday will remain dry - rain chances will stall to our west and spare those of us with outdoor plans over the next 48 hours. Speaking of outdoor plans, if any of you are headed to a football game Friday night, you're in luck - one can expect partly cloudy skies Friday evening with a kickoff temperature near 78°. The dry weather isn't expected to last all that much longer however; scattered rainfall is expected to reach the Tri-State during the predawn hours Saturday and continue on and off though the remainder of the weekend ahead.

Winds will gust as high 35 MPH through the afternoon. The stronger southerly winds will assist in milder afternoon highs. Temperatures will max in the upper-50s and low-60s with partly cloudy skies. Rain will be arriving by 3AM Thanksgiving morning.
