U.S. 41 is closed in southern Hopkins County due to an accident involving a train and a semi-truck.

Hopkins County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Monday morning that the highway was closed near Ed Brackett Road due to the accident.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Monday just south of the entrance to Hopkins County Central High School.

HCSO tells us the semi became stuck after bottoming out on a road that wasn't designed for the vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office, the semi driver was able to exit the truck before it was hit by the train, so no injuries occurred as a result of the incident.

The portion of U.S. 41 where the crash occurred was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Tonight it will be much colder with an overnight low of around 22 degrees, with a light north wind. On Tuesday, highs will only be in the middle 30's and then we throw in a chance of flurries overnight. Best chance of flurries will be along and north of I-64.
