The Gibson County Sheriff's Office says a 21-year-old woman was arrested on Friday afternoon after she attempted to steal a package from an area resident's home.

GCSO says the incident was reported around 1:04 p.m. on Friday by a caller who said they saw an individual attempting to take a package from a home in the 1300 block of E. 150 South.

The reporting party was able to give central dispatch an accurate description of the suspects, according to GCSO, as well as a description of a Red Chevy Truck that picked the suspects up as they attempted to flee the area

Officers located the suspect vehicle, which was a Red 2011 Chevy Silverado, on Main Street across the street from the jail. They say upon further investigation, a woman in the vehicle later identified as 21-year-old Rosalea Landazuri stated that she had in fact touched the package.

Deputy Jennifer Robb investigated the incident and spoke to the victim, who GCSO says provided photos of the suspect as well as the vehicle they were picked up in, leading to the arrest of Landazuri.

Landazuri was taken to the Gibson County Jail where she's being charged with Theft and False Informing/Hindering Law Enforcement. She remains in custody on a $650 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
