Another Cold Front, Another Gorgeous Day

Despite an early morning chance for rain, the weekend ahead looks gorgeous!

Temperatures bounced back into the mid 70s across the region earlier today - southerly winds paired with our ample supply of sunshine helped drive our afternoon high 6° higher than Thursday's, leaving us with a peak temperature of 77° in Evansville. Despite the warmer weather, Our Friday was nothing short of absolutely perfect. After seeing temperatures dip toward the mid 60s by 10PM, overnight lows will fall into the mid to upper 50s by the predawn hours Saturday. The combination of our southerly wind flow and some added cloud cover will keep temperatures more mild tomorrow morning - we'll only fall as low as 57° in the River City. That added cloud cover will arrive overnight ahead of an advancing cold front.

That cold front is expected to bring about our next round of rainfall - fortunately, the rain will be light and relatively short-lived. The first of the rain will reach our western and northwesternmost communities between 3AM and 4AM; the rain will push in over Evansville between 5AM and 6AM and Owensboro just before 7AM before exiting east of the Tri-State between 8AM and 9AM. When it's all said and done, some areas could see a little more than 0.1" of rainfall. As far as rain chances go however, that's all she wrote - not only for our Saturday, but for the remainder of the weekend and even next week. The passing cold front will usher a breezy northwesterly wind flow back into the Tir-State, dropping temperatures couple degrees Saturday; we'll top out near 75° with gradually decreasing cloud cover tomorrow.

One shouldn't expect a prolonged cooldown though - higher pressure building in following the passage of Saturday's cold front will settle to our east and pump southerly winds and Gulf heat into the Ohio Valley. Temperatures will reach 82° on Sunday under mostly sunny skies before jumping to 87° come Monday. Current model data suggests that we'll climb even higher come Tuesday; many of us will see temperatures between 88° and 90° that afternoon! Talk about a significant swing in temperatures - between this morning's low of 47° and next Tuesday's peak temperatures, some of us are looking at more than a 40° surge in temperatures in a little more than 4 days!

Winds will gust as high 35 MPH through the afternoon. The stronger southerly winds will assist in milder afternoon highs. Temperatures will max in the upper-50s and low-60s with partly cloudy skies. Rain will be arriving by 3AM Thanksgiving morning.
