Another Cold Front Comes and Goes

We're tracking another cold front headed for the Tri-State.

Just another day in paradise; afternoon highs again topped out in the mid to low 70s across the Tri-State under a mix of sun and clouds. If you have plans out and about this evening, make sure to grab a jacket before you head out - after seeing temperatures near 64° around dinnertime, the mercury will dip to 57° by 10 o'clock before falling all the way back down into the mid to upper 40s early Wednesday morning. Sure, tomorrow morning's lows of 47° will represent our mildest start to a day since this past Friday, but it's still going to make for a cool start to our midweek nonetheless. The combination of sunshine and southerly winds however, will help drive temperatures back into the low 70s by lunchtime - if you're planning on lunching outside Wednesday, make sure not to do so in the shade. Wind gusts near 15 mph at times during our lunch hour will make for a chilly brown bag lunch outdoors.

After reaching peak temperatures near 76° Wednesday afternoon, we'll only fall as low as 68° or so by 7PM; the mild weather should stick around for much of the night, though an inbound cold front will push much of that mild air out of the Ohio Valley by Thursday morning. We're keeping a close eye on a core of low pressure expected to swing through the upper Great Plains late Wednesday into Thursday; its associated cold front will push through the Tri-State overnight Wednesday as early Thursday morning. We'll begin to see increasing cloud cover beginning Wednesday night before a few scattered rain showers roll in over the Tri-State during the predawn hours Thursday. Fortunately, the last of the rainfall will have already pushed well to our east by the time we wake up Thursday morning. Most of, if not all, of the lingering cloud cover should also clear out of the region by 10AM Thursday, though a breezy westerly wind flow and cooler Canadian air mass will only allow temperatures to surge as high as the upper 60s Thursday afternoon. We'll hit 68° in Evansville that day.

Winds will gust as high 35 MPH through the afternoon. The stronger southerly winds will assist in milder afternoon highs. Temperatures will max in the upper-50s and low-60s with partly cloudy skies. Rain will be arriving by 3AM Thanksgiving morning.
