According to the Evansville Fire Department, a Wednesday night fire on Maxwell Avenue is being investigated as a possible arson.

EFD crews were dispatched to a home on Maxwell Avenue late Wednesday night around 9:32 p.m. after a resident of the home called 911 to report a fire.

Within minutes, the fire department had extinguished the fire. They say the home's resident had poured water on the fire prior to their arrival.

While minimal damage to the home was sustained in the fire, an arson report was filed with the Evansville Police Department, with the victim advising someone had entered the home and set the fire.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Conditions are dry, but chilly. Winds have strengthened out of the north making it feel bitterly cold. As we head into the overnight hours temperatures will fall into the mid 20s. As winds stay gusty out of the north it will make it feel more like the teens Sunday morning under clear skies. The majority of the Tri-State will remain dry come Sunday afternoon. There is a slim chance that some of our communities across the far southern reaches of the Tri-State could see some light snowfall early in the afternoon, but it's looking like it will stay south and east of the Tri-State. We'll climb to a high temperature of 38° with sunny and breezy conditions. Gusts out of the north could reach 25-30 MPH.
