Authorities Looking for Driver After Stolen Truck Hits Fire Hydrant in Evansville

Authorities are looking for the driver of a stolen truck that crashed into a fire hydrant at the corner of Fulton Avenue and Illinois Street in Evansville just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene of a Thursday morning crash at the corner of Fulton Avenue and Illinois Street in Evansville, Indiana.

Members of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office and the Evansville Police Department were at the scene canvassing the area for the driver of a stolen truck that crashed into a fire hydrant before running.

EPD described the driver as a white man in his 30s who was wearing a black hoodie and tan pants. We're told he still remains at large at this time.

According to EPD, two guns were also found in the truck that belonged to the truck's rightful owner. 

The water department was also at the scene of the crash to inspect the damaged fire hydrant.

Conditions are dry, but chilly. Winds have strengthened out of the north making it feel bitterly cold. As we head into the overnight hours temperatures will fall into the mid 20s. As winds stay gusty out of the north it will make it feel more like the teens Sunday morning under clear skies. The majority of the Tri-State will remain dry come Sunday afternoon. There is a slim chance that some of our communities across the far southern reaches of the Tri-State could see some light snowfall early in the afternoon, but it's looking like it will stay south and east of the Tri-State. We'll climb to a high temperature of 38° with sunny and breezy conditions. Gusts out of the north could reach 25-30 MPH.
