The woman who stitched the first American flag was spotted in Henderson, Kentucky on Monday.
A woman dressed up as Betsy Ross was seen waving the flag proudly in front of the Golden Corral in Henderson.
The Ross lookalike was there to bring awareness and support for "Heroes Outreach Service Providers (HOSP) Veterans Outreach," a non-profit organization created by a local couple.
The couple has been working to get the non-profit off the ground for the past year, hoping to provide homeless veterans a place to stay in Henderson.
"We got a lot of hungry, homeless vets here," said Rodney Bond with HOSP Veterans Outreach. "Trouble is we got no shelters in Henderson to house them or feed them. They're all in Evansville. I want to change that. I mean, we got vets here that are homeless and hungry too."
The couple is also trying to raise money for a POW/MIA memorial that would be built in Henderson.
