Former Vice President Joe Biden has selected U.S. Senator Kamala Harris as his 2020 running mate.
The presumptive Democratic nominee announced Harris as his selection for running mate on Tuesday, Aug 11.
"Joe Biden here. Big news: I've chosen Kamala Harris as my running mate. Together, with you, we're going to beat Trump," a text message to supporters sent by the Biden campaign said.
Biden also sent out a twitter message to followers, stating, "I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate."
"Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse," Biden continued via Twitter. "I was proud then, and I'm proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign."
Biden and Harris are slated to deliver remarks together on Wednesday in Biden's home state, Delaware.
