The city of Carmi kicked off their Sunday afternoon with a parade to honor World War 2 veteran James Endicott.

"It's quite an honor and I can't get over it yet. I never expected something like this," said Endicott. "

They also honored other World War 2 veterans, with people lining down the street, waving flags and showing their appreciation.

After the parade, they moved to the VFW 3851 Post to continue the festivities where Endicott shared memories of his time in battle.

"I was in harm's way, I don't know how many times, but I've survived and the Lord decided I would come home," said Endicott.

His birthday is a huge milestone the community is proud to celebrate.

"We're just glad to be able to honor all of these guys." said Michael Baxley and Adjutant at VFW 3851.

Endicott will blow out 100 candles when he officially turns that age on Thursday.

With the parade over, Endicott has one more message to say.

"Any other comments you want to make? Semper Fidelis. Do you know the translation of that? Always faithful that's the Marine Corp symbol." said Endicott.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
