A 20-year-old Evansville man is being held on a $1 million bond after being arrested on Saturday following a stabbing incident in a southeast side trailer park.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a home in the 2400 block of Wild Dunes Dr. on Saturday around 2:30 p.m. after dispatch received a call about a man being stabbed multiple times by his stepson.
When they arrived at the home on Wild Dunes Dr, deputies found the stabbing victim and the suspect. The man who had been stabbed was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries by ambulance, and the suspect was taken to the VCSO Operations Center.
The sheriff's office says that during the investigation, detectives determined that 20-year-old Zakary Mullin of Evansville, Indiana, stabbed the victim multiple times during a dispute between his mother and the victim, who is married to his mother.
VCSO says the stabbing came as a result of an argument between Mullin's mother and stepfather, and that multiple witnesses were present, including a 12-year-old child. One of the witnesses called 911.
A statement released by the sheriff's office says that while Mullin was being interviewed by detectives, he admitted to stabbing his stepfather multiple times, but that he couldn't explain why he stabbed him and admitted to overreacting.
Mullin was arrested for Attempted Murder and Domestic Battery. He's being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $1 million bond.
