A Branchville, Indiana man remains behind bars in Vanderburgh County Jail after a police chase Tuesday night that ended with him arrested in a nearby alley.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said that 40-year-old Freddie Reed is facing charges of Battery against a Police Officer, Criminal Recklessness, Resisting Law Enforcement, and other charges.
Deputies, along with Indiana State Police troopers and members of the U.S. Marshalls Service Fugitivie Task Force were investigating the area of West Franklin Street Tuesday evening around 8PM, looking for Reed who had warrants for his arrested related to narcotic possession.
Reed was spotted driving a car and, when officers attempted to stop the car, he fled at a high rate of speed. As the chase entered the intersection of West Franklin Street and North Saint Joseph Avenue, Reed's car colided with a SUV, causing that vehicle to flip. Reed's car ended up only feets away from colliding with the Pizza King restaurant located at the intersection.
Reed fled from the car. An alert was sent from the Sheriff's Office to avoid the area as they searched for him. 30 minutes later, Reed was spoted in an alley off of Bell Avenue and was arrested.
The driver in the SUV only suffered minor injuries in the crash. Reed remains in the jail on no bond.
