Improving conditions return this afternoon as highs reach the upper 60s under partly sunny skies. While we may see a few more clouds this afternoon, we'll still be faced with a nice end to the work week - expect afternoon highs to peak near 69° this afternoon.
There are some light rain chances showing up on the models. Don't be surprised if you run into some light rain/sprinkles this afternoon. By the time we reach the overnight hours, cloud cover increasing and cooling temperatures will be likely. As Saturday morning rolls around it will be chilly once again with temperatures in the upper 40s.
As for your Mother's Day weekend, Saturday will be best! Scattered showers are possible in the afternoon hours, but some there will be some dry time to pop up. Highs will be on the cooler side - we're talking upper 50s/low 60s. Sorry mom! As we watch a low pressure system slide through Sunday, showers and storms will be likely. Right now, the Storm Prediction Center has communities along I-64 and south under a "1" on the Threat Index for severe weather. The main threats are heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
