U.S. Congressman Larry Bucshon has secured his spot as the representative of Indiana's 8th Congressional District.
The Associated Press called Bucshon's win with the candidate currently holding 71% of votes.
Bucshon, the Republican candidate on the ticket, was up against Democratic candidate Thomasina Marsili, who advanced from the Democratic primary on June 2, 2020, and Libertarian candidate James Rodenberger. Marsili has currently secured 26% of votes.
Bucshon released the following statement after being elected to his sixth term to represent Indiana's 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives:
"This election is one of the most consequential in the history of America and I am honored and grateful that Hoosiers in the Eighth District have given me the privilege to continue representing them in the U.S. House of Representatives. Without my supporters and my team this would not be possible and I can’t thank them enough for ensuring our shared conservative Hoosier values of faith, family, and freedom will continue to be represented in Congress."
Some of the counties located in Indiana's 8th Congressional District include Vanderburgh, Warrick, Gibson, Pike, Perry, Posey, Spencer, Dubois, and Daviess counties.
Bucshon, who will now serve his 6th term as Indiana's District 8 Representative, has served in the position since 2011.
