The Illinois State Department of Public Health (IDPH) says multiple factors have allowed Region 5 of Illinois, which includes Wabash, White, Gallatin, Edwards, Wayne, Hamilton, Salin counties among others, to enter back into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan.
According to IDHP, the main factor allowing the region to enter Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan was the state's launching of multiple healthcare staffing contracts to increase hospital staffing.
Under Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, indoor dining and drinking at restaurants and bars is now permitted for parties of up to 10 people, but social distancing is still required.
The announcement by the state health department came just days after Governor JB Pritzker said Region 5 of the state was moving into Tier 2 Mitigations, which didn't allow indoor service. Then, only one day later, the state health department moved Region 5 into Tier 1 mitigations.
The rapidly-changing restrictions have caused widespread confusion among business owners and members of the community, who remain hopeful that the state will fully reopen as soon as possible.
