As the coronavirus spreads across the Tri-State testing centers are being overwhelmed with people needing COVID-19 tests.

On Tuesday in Evansville, there were long lines at COVID-19 test sites across the River City.

As positive COVID-19 cases in the area continue to rise, more people are flocking to testing sites ahead of the holidays as they consider gathering with family and friends.

One 44News viewer said long lines and 30 to 45 minute wait times were at the Deaconess Drive-Thru Clinic on 4th Street in Evansville.

The drive-thru express site that Deaconess offers on Lynch Road was swapped with cars flowing into North Green River Road.

Dale Mallory told 44News he was playing it extra safe heading into the Thanksgiving holiday: "I think its important to get tested if you know you're going to be around people with a bad immune system, this is the reason I got tested, because I have holiday plans and my father has health issues, I think the wait was expected, anytime you go to a healthcare facility in America you have to wait".

The rapid results generally take 15 minutes to get back. Deaconess is now telling everyone results are taking 24 to 96 hours.

Those going through the testing process say it only took three to five minutes to complete.

Here is a list of testing locations in the Tri-State:
