The Illinois State Police are reporting a fatal crash that happened just before 1:30 PM Friday. The investigation results are still preliminary, but one person was confirmed dead on the scene. Three other people were airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Those victims ranged in age from 16 to 20 years old.

Police say the driver of a Blue 2017 Toyota passenger car failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Illinois Route 161 and Enterprise road. Police say the other vehicle, a silver 2001 Dodge pickup, was driving westbound on 161 when the truck hit the passenger side vehicle of the Toyota. The driver of the Dodge did not have a stop sign.

The Dodge pickup went off of the roadway and overturned several times. It came to a rest on the roof. The 14-year-old passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.

Everyone else in both vehicles were airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) is still investigating.

We're still waiting on the actual cold front to get here. That should arrive around dawn, bringing mainly light rain. The front may also be responsible for perking up a couple bands of heavier rain and lightning east of Evansville for midday Saturday.
