On Monday, several seniors from Central High School's football team signed up to join the United States Marine Corps.

Many of the students had offers to colleges with scholarships but chose instead to serve their county.

Among the group was the football team's team captain of the last two seasons. He says he hopes his experience in a position of leadership will help provide him with the starting qualities he needs to be a Marine.

The signing and oath ceremony was conducted in Evansville Monday by a Marine Corps Master Sergeant from Louisville.
