According to Deputies say Tony Whitmer Jr. is facing burglary charges after the Sheriff's Department witnessed the man inside a fenced in area of the business he works at.

Deputies report after midnight Saturday Whitmer was inside Alvey Signs on SR 57 carrying metal to his truck. Court records say deputies watched Whitmer complete the crime, allowing him to leave his employer, then getting pulled over near North Green River Road and Kansas Road.

When authorities made contact with Whitmer he told them he was an employee and had permission to be on the property and was allowed to take product as needed. Deputies confirmed with his employer that was true, Alvey Signs told law enforcement Whitmer wasn't supposed to be on property after hours and could not remove inventory without permission, which he didn't have.

The items taken were returned to the business, Whitmer is currently behind bars at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

It's a seasonable and dry start to Friday, but the heat is going to turn up this afternoon. Partly sunny skies will stick around with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The humidity may take the way it feels up a notch. Those southerly winds will help push in that moisture making it feel more like the low 90s. An isolated shower can't be ruled out, but any rainfall won't ruin our plans.
