9-Year-Old Child Injured in Owensboro Hit-and-Run

A 9-year-old child was hospitalized on Thursday after being hit by a truck at the intersection of 12th Street and Werner Avenue in Owensboro, according to police.

Police in Owensboro are investigating after a child was the victim of a hit-and-run incident Thursday.

According to the Owensboro Police Department, the hit-and-run happened Thursday near the intersection of 12th Street and Werner Avenue, with dispatch receiving reports of the incident around 8:30 p.m.

Authorities say the child was riding a bicycle when they were struck by a silver or white pickup truck and that the driver fled the scene.

Officer Andrew Boggess with the Owensboro Police Department tells us the victim was 9-years-old.

The child was taken to a local hospital where their condition remains unknown.

The incident remains under investigation by police.
