Child Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Vehicle in Evansville

A child was seriously injured in Evansville on Sunday after being hit by a vehicle, according to police.

A child was rushed to the hospital in Evansville, Indiana on Sunday after being hit by a vehicle, according to the Evansville Police Department.

EPD says its officers responded to a crash with injuries around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Woodford Court, which is on the city's deep east side between Outer Lincoln Avenue and Newburgh Road.

As officers were on their way to the scene of the crash, they were told that a child had been hit.

Before officers arrived, they say the child had already been rushed to the hospital by their father. EPD says the child was seriously injured in the incident.

The driver involved in the crash was still there when police arrived, and EPD says they gave a statement and submitted to a chemical test.

According to police, no charges have been filed and the incident is currently being treated as an accident.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
