Ascension St. Vincent Evansville has started the process of getting young kids vaccinated against Covid.

The CDC approved use of the Pfizer vaccine on children ages 5 to 11 earlier this week.

On Friday, 10 children received their first dose of the vaccine at the hospital.

"I've been wanting to get my shot for like a really long time. I'm excited so I can go back to school and keep all my friends and family safe," said 7-year-old vaccine recipient Amelia Paul.

Amelia and the other children who received shots on Friday have parents or grandparents who works at the hospital.

Vaccine clinics for kids ages 5-11 will open on November 12th at 3:30 at the hospital.

Visit the Ascension St. Vincent website for more information on how to sign your child up for a vaccine or call the hospital at 812-485-6843.

Monday morning, we will see partly sunny skies with temperatures still in the mid 20°s. By the afternoon, we will be warming up into the mid 40°s with cloud coverage increasing. This is due to a cold front expected to traverse the tri-state overnight Monday.
