Build The Block Evansville is making its way throughout the community leaving warm scarves for anybody passing a tree with bright colored scarves in need of a little something more to stay warm.

Organizers say with many nights now dropping down into the 20’s and the chill in the air during the day a little more biting a scarf does a really good job to bring comfort.

The challenge gives a little love and warmth to those who need it. Organizers say to scarf a tree costs little money and time so if your family, group or organization wants to get in on the fun pick a tree in the neighborhood or near a favorite place, gather new or used scarves and tie the scarves low enough passersby can select one as needed.

Build The Block Evansville says December and January are great times to set out scarves because of the frigid temps and growing numbers of homeless and people in need of warm clothes and outerwear.

Beautiful skies with unseasonably cool temperatures will be on tap for Thursday. Our next chance of rain will slide in Thursday night. Some of those showers may stick around for Friday morning but the afternoon should be dry with highs in the low to mid 60s.
