For their first live concert since March 2020, The Old National Events Plaza in Evansville welcomed the Allman Betts Band on Friday.

To prepare for the event, the Old National Events Plaza has introduced several new safety and sanitation protocols. By adopting new touchless technologies and enforcing social distancing, indoor venues like the Old National Events Plaza are taking special precautions to keep the community safe.

"We're looking at ways that we can cut down on those touch points between our staff and our guests. As well as of course, seating people 6 feet apart so we're maintaining social distancing within the seating area and within the public areas as well,” said Alexis Berggren, Old National Events Plaza General Manager.

Other new technologies include self-scanning kiosks for concert-goers to scan their tickets upon arrival. The venue even has a new way to order snacks.

"We're also rolling out a new mobile app for ordering concessions so even as you're walking up to the building, you can order a beer on your mobile app and then come in and pick it up directly from the concession stand,” Berggren told 44News.

In a theater that usually fits 2,500 people, capacity will be limited to keep the audience at a safe distance.

"With social distancing in place, our capacity is about 750. Now we'll have about 500 guests here tomorrow. We are excited to see all of our audience members and they'll be spaced very safely, they should be very comfortable,” said Berggren.

Tickets were pre-sold and were offered in groups of 2, 3, 4, and 6. Seats were assigned on the tickets to encourage social distancing.

The Old National Events Plaza is also introducing a new requirement for safety and sanitation purposes. Only clear bags can be brought into the venue.

Berggren said, "We at Old National Events Plaza certainly have everybody's health and safety and wellbeing [in mind]. That is the top of our priority list for our guests and our staff."

The Allman Betts Band are set to take the stage at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 23 in the Aiken Theater at the Old National Events Plaza.
Masks must be worn at all times.

Monday morning, we will see partly sunny skies with temperatures still in the mid 20°s. By the afternoon, we will be warming up into the mid 40°s with cloud coverage increasing. This is due to a cold front expected to traverse the tri-state overnight Monday.
