Isolated rainfall will continue to taper off over the coming hours as clearer and drier conditions settle back in over the Tri-State after some of us received nearly 2" of rainfall over the last 24 hours. Evansville's official high temperature of 63° was recorded just after midnight - afternoon temperatures on the other hand, never climbed above 58°! Even as the rain gradually pushes eastward, our breezy northerly winds will stick around. That northwesterly wind flow will pair with our clearer conditions overnight and help drive temperatures to their lowest point in months! Current model data suggests that the mercury will dive to 47° in the River City during the predawn hours Thursday; if that forecast holds, it will mark our coldest start to a day since May 30th when we fell to 43°.

The clear and crisp start to our Thursday will set the stage for an absolutely gorgeous remainder of the work week - as long as you don't mind some breezy conditions (those northerly winds may gust near 35 mph at times), the combination of sunshine and cool Canadian air will allow temperatures to peak near 70° across the Tri-State on Thursday afternoon. After dipping back toward the mid 40s once again early Friday morning, the return of a weaker southerly wind and some more sunshine will help push temperatures back into the mid 70s that afternoon. Kickoff temperatures for those football games on Friday evening will be around 69°; it should be a prefect fall night - the mercury will dip toward the low 60s by the end of the 4th quarter.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
