THURSDAY: We are waking up to nice and pleasant conditions. It will remain dry through today, but our highs will reach the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies. As the heat and humidity mix this afternoon, it will feel absolutely oppressive. The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for the entire Tri-State from 10AM to 8PM. In fact, the heat index values could reach 105°-110° this afternoon. The air quality is going to continuously go down through today and tomorrow, before we clear most of the western wildfire smoke out of here.

THURSDAY NIGHT: The heat will be put to rest tonight thanks to our next frontal boundary that will bring us shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday night into Friday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has the northern sections of the Tri-State under a "2" on the Threat Index for severe weather Thursday night and the remainder of the Tri-State south of the Ohio River is under a "1". Storm activity could pick up in the northern half of the Tri-State as soon as 7PM.

Today's high temperature of 87° was our warmest in a week and a half - we last climbed that high on the afternoon of September 18th when we tipped the scales at 88°. The remainder of the evening will remain quite mild under clear skies; expect temperatures to first fall to 83° by dinnertime before dropping to 73° by 10PM. The clear skies and weak southerly wind flow will help keep temperatures relatively stable during the overnight and predawn hours - we'll wake up to a morning low of just 62° early Wednesday morning.
