The Henderson County Sheriff's Office confirms that Lieutenant Colonel David Crafton will finish out the remainder of Ed Brady's term as sheriff as of June 30.
Crafton will be the new sheriff of Henderson County through 2022, when Sheriff Brady's term would have expired.
The decision to name Crafton as interim sheriff was made on Tuesday at the Henderson County Fiscal Court's meeting, where Brady officially informed the court of his retirement.
The court approved Brady's recommendation unanimously. Crafton will be sworn in on July 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the fiscal courtroom.
Earlier in June, Brady announced his retirement after 52 years of service.
