The decision to name Crafton as interim sheriff was made on Tuesday at the Henderson County Fiscal Court's meeting, where Brady officially informed the court of his retirement.

The court approved Brady's recommendation unanimously. Crafton will be sworn in on July 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the fiscal courtroom.

Earlier in June, Brady announced his retirement after 52 years of service.
