Madison Turner, a grade 9 - 12 Algebra teacher at Daviess County High School, has been named a 2020 McDonald’s Teach It Forward Outstanding Educator.

With students, parents, colleagues, and community members invited to submit nominations for the award, Turner doesn't know who exactly nominated her - but she says she's still extremely happy to receive the recognition.

"This has brought me a great deal of joy. Like all teachers, I am trying to be the best teacher I can be for my kids," said Turner. "During this challenging season of life, knowing I made a positive difference in a student’s life means more to me than I can describe in words.”

While Turner was nominated and named an Outstanding Educator, she says school employees across the district, state, and nation are also deserving of respect and appreciation.

“Custodial staff, bus drives, cafeteria workers, administrators, teachers – we’re all putting in so much more time and effort on behalf of our students," Turner shared.

We're still waiting on the actual cold front to get here. That should arrive around dawn, bringing mainly light rain. The front may also be responsible for perking up a couple bands of heavier rain and lightning east of Evansville for midday Saturday.
