Dawson Springs School System will have a soft opening on Monday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Students will attend school in two groups, with Purple Group attending class on Monday, and Gold Group attending on Tuesday. School buses will run and meals will be served during both days of the soft opening.

DSSS is also asking students to bring their school-issued chrome books upon their return to class during the soft opening.

Starting on Monday, Oct. 12, students will rotate days for in-person instruction depending on which group they're in.

Purple Group will attend Monday and Tuesday, and Gold Group will attend Thursday and Friday. Virtual students in grades 7-12 will log on to Edgenuity for their courses.

More information for Dawson Springs School System students can be found within the attached images, or on the Dawson Springs Independent School System Facebook page.

The cold front has come and gone and with it our threat for Severe Weather. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect portions of the Tri-State through the remainder of the evening ahead. In fact, there is a possibility that some of the thunderstorms we see between now and 9PM or so could produce small hail and wind gusts in excess of 40 mph. Anyone planning on attending a football game this evening should make sure an umbrella or poncho is on hand to keep you dry and should anticipate at least some rain delays to occur. The rain should finally exit east of the Tri-State between 10PM and 12AM; it's around that time that wind speeds will again pick up some steam - our northwesterly winds are expected to gust as high as 35 mph at times overnight.
