This begins the process of demolishing both the Morton Residence Hall and the Brentano Residence Hall, making way for the new resident hall.

The new residence hall will house 293 beds in a mixture of four-bedroom and six-bedroom "pod" structures, a concept that UE says meets the preferences of current and future generations of students, who desire both more privacy, along with enhanced spaces to socialize.

UE says the total cost of the new hall is approximately $18 million financed with tax-exempt debt.

The expected completion date for the construction of the new residence hall is August 2022.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
