Officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded to an area home on a welfare check Monday that prompted an investigation after a 1-year-old child was found with burns.
According to OPD, officers responded to the home on a medical call where a 1-year-old was burned.
The 1-year-old was transported to Owensboro Regional Hospital and ultimately taken to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, according to OPD.
OPD tells us the nature of the child's injuries prompted an investigation by detectives.
At this stage of the investigation, detectives are working with medical professionals to determine the cause of the injuries.
