The Diocese of Evansville Catholic Schools district says it will soon require everyone inside its schools to wear a mask.

Starting Monday, Aug. 16, all students, faculty, staff, and visitors will be required to mask up when inside any of the district's school buildings.

Additionally, the district says that students will be required to wear masks while going to and from school on the bus.

The new mask requirement will be in effect for two weeks, at which point it will be reviewed and possibly revised, depending on the current COVID-19 metrics.

Previous guidance issued by the Diocese said that masks wouldn't be required during the school year, but the Diocese says that the current COVID-19 conditions in the area have caused that to change.

We woke up to dry and cold conditions this Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, there won’t be any drastic changes this afternoon. Increasing cloud cover will be likely as a cold northerly flow continues ushering in chilly air. Highs won’t be going very far, we’ll likely only reach the mid to upper 30s Tri-State wide. We’re tracking a little bit of winter weather out to our north and west. Skies will be mostly cloudy tonight with a chance of flurries/light rain. It won't be a big snow by any stretch, but you could see some flurries flying Tuesday night into Wednesday morning around the Tri-State. Don't expect more than a dusting, with greater chances falling north of I-64.
