A double-homicide suspect from South Carolina was arrested in Evansville on Monday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marhsals Fugitive Task Force received information from the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) that a person wanted for the shooting death of two female victims in Berkeley County, South Carolina, may be in the Evansville area.
CRFTF advised that 19-year-old Damayjohn Gadson of Utahville, South Carolina, had family ties in the Evansville area, prompting the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to set up surveillance on several areas on the Southeast side of Evansville.
While conducting surveillance near Washington Ave and Weinbach Ave, a task force officer saw a man matching Gadson's description exit a pizza restaurant,
The man was stopped by task force officers and identified as Gadson. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to South Carolina.
