The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says one person was hospitalized after a crash that happened in the northern area of the county on Friday morning.

The sheriff's office and the Scott Township Fire Department responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m. in the area of Old State Road, north of E. Boonville New Harmony Road.

Deputies and fire personnel found a silver SUD had gone off the side of the road, hitting a tree and damaging the front end of the vehicle. They say that the vehicle's drive was unresponsive but showed signs of life.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The sheriff's office says the cause of the crash is unknown as of now, but that it's still under investigation.
