Owensboro's Dugan Best Park is in the process of getting a new playground.
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department shared photos of a bulldozer demolishing the park's old playground equipment Thursday.
No timeline has been set for the new playground's completion, but the parks department is expected to share more information at a later time.
While Dugan Best Park is receiving what most would consider the most notable upgrade, the Owensboro Parks Department has been busy making other improvements in parks around the city, like Thompson Berry Park and Kendall Perkins Park, where new basketball hoops were recently installed.
According to the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department, Dugan Best Park is an 11-acre park acquired by the City of Owensboro in 1941 as a City Dump. It was renovated in 1966 by Honorable Mayor Dugan Best for recreational purposes.
In 1974, Dugan Best Recreation Center was added to the Park.
You can find Dugan Best Park at 1003 Omega St. in Owensboro, Kentucky.
