Evansville Fire Crews were called to an early Friday morning fire.

The blaze broke out shortly before 2 a.m. on West Delaware Street.

Officials say the fire started in a vacant home, but spread to the homes on both side of it, turning into a three-structure fire.

Firefighters say an elderly couple was removed from one home and one person from another home.
"The original house is a total loss," says Chief Shawn Willis, Evansville Fire Department. "It collapsed probably five minutes into our crews arriving and extensive damage to adjoining houses."

We're told a firefighter did receive burns to his face, he was treated for injury and recently released.

AMR was on scene to help those involved and the American Red Cross is assisting.

According to officials, due to the amount of damage and total destruction of the home by the fire, the cause will most likely be classified as underdetermined.

It was another cool, though overall pleasant day across the Tri-State - after only seeing temperatures dive as low as 22° early this morning, peak temperatures ended up climbing a few degrees higher than Thursday's; that being said, Evansville’s high temperature of 27° Was still 15° below average for this time of the year. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will gradually fall for 23° around dinner time back down to 19° by10 PM. A weak northerly wind flow most of the night paired with our crystal clear skies will cause temperatures to of fall back down into the mid to low teens once again - Evansville's anticipated low temperature of 12° will mark or coolest since the morning of January 7th.
