Evansville Fire crews battled an apartment fire on the city's east side Thursday night.
Evansville Dispatched received the initial call to Ashley Court Apartments in the 5600 block of Brentwood Court at around 5:00 pm.
The caller told responders, that fire could be seen coming from the top of the entry door to the apartment building, and was blocking his only exit.
Upon entry, firefighters discovered an ottoman engulfed in flames.
No one was inside at the time, and the damage was limited to the hallway of the unit, with smoke damage to the stairway leading to the apartment.
EFD says the fire is under investigation and considered undetermined at this time.
An arson report has been filed.
