EFD puts out house fire on S. New York Ave.

The Evansville Fire Department was able to quickly put out a fire at a home on S. New York Avenue, Friday.

The Evansville Fire Department was able to quickly put out a fire at a home on S. New York Avenue, Friday.

The call came around 6:30 p.m., sending crews to the neighborhood just southwest of Hwy 41 and Lloyd.

According to EFD, when they arrived fire was visible from a back window.

They were able to locate the fire in a second-floor bedroom and contain it within 10 minutes.

No one was injured, but EFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
