Evansville Police are investigating an early morning shooting after a shots-fired call came in just after 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The shooting happened in the 1300 block of Hatfield Drive at Embassy Apartments. Witnesses told officers the victim was shot in the back/neck outside of one of the buildings.

According to EPD, officers found a pool of blood and a shell casing at the scene upon their arrival. A trail of blood led the officers to the victim, who was found with a gunshot wound to his back/neck area.
The man was taken to Deaconess Midtown for treatment where he's expected to survive his injuries.
Police say the victim couldn't provide much information but told them that as he came over to the apartment and went to walk up to the stairs, he was shot in the back. He told police he had no idea who did this and did not have a description other than 'three males'.
EPD says the three suspects fled on foot near the Vann Avenue area and are still at large.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Evansville Police Department's Detective Office at 812-436-7979 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline.
