The victim of a fatal hit-and-run that took place over the weekend in Evansville has now been identified by the Vanderburgh County Coroner.

The coroner's office says 63-year-old John D. Knight died from multiple blunt force trauma at Deaconess Midtown Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday.

It all started just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday when the Evansville Police Department was called to the 1000 block of N. Fulton Avenue after a pedestrian was reportedly hit by a car in the area.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the middle of the street in critical condition.

"Witnesses saw a light color passenger car traveling southbound on Fulton when it struck the victim," EPD said. "The vehicle continued southbound on Fulton after hitting the victim."

EPD is still looking for a suspect in connection to the incident. Anyone with information on the vehicle or its driver is asked to call detectives at 812-436-7979.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
