Officials with the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library on Friday announced the expansion of in-person hours at its libraries and the return of several services.

According to EVPL, each library's in-person hours will be expanded beginning Monday, May 17.

In addition to the extension of its in-person library hours, EVPL says library uses will be able to once again reserve meeting and study rooms at all EVPL locations.

Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance on rooms.evpl.org/reserve. EVPL says there will be a 30-minute buffer between room reservations to allow for cleaning by staff.

EVPL says that while virtual programming will continue to be provided, modified in-person programming will return following the launch of the Summer Reading Celebration on May 22. Check out a full schedule of events on the EVPL Calendar.

In addition to the resumption of all these services, something new: EVPL says it will be introducing its new EVPL Read Sensory Room and Preservation Studio.

The READ Sensory Room is a safe place for children with sensory processing differences or other challenging conditions in need of a calm, sensory-friendly space, according to EVPL. The Preservation Studio is a free “do-it-yourself” space for community members to archive and digitize personal mementos. Both will begin accepting appointments for reservation on Monday, May 17.

It's a seasonable and dry start to Friday, but the heat is going to turn up this afternoon. Partly sunny skies will stick around with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The humidity may take the way it feels up a notch. Those southerly winds will help push in that moisture making it feel more like the low 90s. An isolated shower can't be ruled out, but any rainfall won't ruin our plans.
