Earlier today, Evansville Adaptive Watersports held an exhibition showcasing their athletes and their abilities out on the water.
Earlier in the morning, athletes met behind the Sweet Water Event Center in Evansville to take a few laps on the water.
And 44News spoke with one of the athletes about how thankful he is to be a part of this team.
"Before I as injured, I was very active outside, and did every kind of sport you can think of, so to have these sport opportunities here in the tri-state is amazing, and it means so much to me and my lifestyle, and to interact with other people with disabilities is a great thing," said Collin Sallee.
The Evansville Adaptive Rowing Team was started last year thanks to partnerships with the YMCA, the University of Evansville, and the Louisville Adaptive Rowing Team.
The team will be starting its winter program in November if you are intersted in joining.
Currently there are only two adaptive sports teams in Evansville, but Sallee said he hopes someday Evansville will have even more teams dedicated to those with physical disabilites, including basketball and baseball.
