The Evansville African American Museum will soon be reopened to the public.

According to an announcement on the Evansville African American Museum's Facebook page, the museum will be back open on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Evansville African American Museum will be reopening in phases due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have definitely used this time to carefully plan our reopening with you our guests and staff in mind," the announcement from the Evansville African American Museum said. "Therefore, for this first phase, the museum will be open by appointment only."

Anyone who would like to make an appointment to visit the museum can do so by calling 812-423-5188.

In addition to the museum's reservation-only operating phase, masks will be required in the museum. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available throughout the museum.
