The holders of the winning ticket for the 2021 Jasper Strassenfest Half-Pot have come forward to claim their prize.

The Jasper Strassenfest Committee says Steve Brenner and his wife Dana Brenner of Evansville, Indiana, met with committee members at the Jasper Chamber of Commerce to claim the $70,555 prize after confirmation that their ticket was valid.

Officials say Steve purchased the winning ticket at the Jasper Strassenfest Half-Pot booth while it was set up at the Southgate Shopping Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Steve works as a truck driver and his route takes him to Jasper daily. He also shared that he has ties to Jasper as former St. Joseph Catholic Church pastor, Father Ray Brenner, is his uncle.

Coincidentally, the Strassenfest Committee says the drawing of the winning half-pot ticket was held on Dana's birthday.

In total, the 2021 Jasper Strassenfest Half-Pot reached $141,110. The Strassenfest Committee says the remainder of the funds will help provide protection for nonprofits involved in the Strassenfest in case of an emergency and a strong financial base for the continuation and growth of the Strassenfest and the Jasper community.

The Jasper Strassenfest Committee says it plans to hold the Half-Pot event once again next year.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
